 What is Online Therapy?

This form of therapy is a well established alternative to face-to-face therapy.   It is obviously beneficial to have face-to-face contact with your therapist, but in many situations that is impossible.   This form of therapy allows the therapist to aid you while you’re in the comfort of your own home or office space.   It gives you the privacy you desire at an affordable price.   An individual should not be restricted in their health care choices.   It is now possible to have online therapy that will give you the full audio-video virtual experience that is close to having a face-to-face session.

List of Things to consider when looking for Online Therapy

1)   Research different therapists on-line.

2)   Send an email message to see if they are experienced with your problem or similar
      problems.

3)   Make sure therapists belong to a professional organization requiring them to adhere to
      ethical guidelines.

4)   Find out the cost.  Usually its an hourly rate, similar to conventional therapy.

5)   Make sure that the service (chat or email) has a secure encrypted system.

6)   Don't use public comupters.   Use your own computer, which other family members
      cannot access.

7)   Try out Online Therapy for a few sessions to see if you and the therapist are the right
      match.

8)   If the connection between you and the therapist doesn't seem right, switch therapy or
     therapists.

9)   On email, make sure the therapist will respond quickly.

10)   With email, read over your message a couple of times before pressing 'send'.
